The bioeconomy refers to the use of biological resources and processes to provide products, energy, and services in a sustainable manner. At KIT, this approach is pursued with a clear focus on resource efficiency, climate protection, and the circular economy. Among other things, the goal is to replace fossil raw materials with renewable alternatives, make chemical and food production more sustainable, and not only avoid CO₂, but actively use it as a resource.
