More than 500 employees of KIT at about 30 institutes are involved in the KIT Climate and Environment Center. A member of the KIT Board manages the Center which is coordinated by a Steering Committee and a Scientific Spokesman with the support of an office. An international Scientific Advisory Council gives advice on strategic planning. The Scientific-technical Assembly decides on topics.
The activities of the KIT Center are based on well-established KIT institutes, the Helmholtz Atmosphere and Climate Programme, the Excellence Center CEDIM (Center for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technology, in cooperation with GeoForschungszentrum Potsdam), cedim AG, several large-scale projects on integrated water resources management (IWRM), the Competence Center for Material Moisture (CMM), the KIT-GRACE Graduate School, and many significant research projects.
